My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Generally quick and enjoyable to read, if lacking in depth or detail. The core plot is relatively straightforward, not too cliche but not too innovative either. Only a small roster of named characters, all of them are somewhat fleshed out but except the titular Nimona none of them seem to have too much depth. A lot that is left unsaid needed to be present to bring the story together more.
Nimona was initially published as a Webcomic, and this development process is apparent in the fact that the overarching plot feels a bit abrupt and random at points. In terms of art, the character design is interesting and the themes addressed are engaging, but the story as a whole does not have the scale or space to do it justice.
All in all, I thought it was fine. It was short enough that it did not drag, and while it wasn't super emotional, there were a few bits towards the end where I had to pause and consider. Brief enough that it's worth checking out.
